The Grottoes Rescue Squad is continually searching for compassionate persons for membership with our agency.  If you have the drive and desire to help and serve your community in need, we invite you to fill out an application.  Our agency welcomes trained and untrained members.

 We are a volunteer organization that provides basic and advanced emergency medical care for the citizens of the town of Grottoes, as well as Augusta and Rockingham counties.  The community depends on us daily to respond in their time of need.  The responsibility is a great one, and it takes time, skill, desire and dedication to perform under the adverse and stressful situations in the field.

Grottoes Rescue Squad offers three types of membership:  Active, support or non-EMS.  All members are expected to attend fundraisers that the squad holds throughout the year.

• Active members are required to run 32 hours of duty per month and attend the monthly business meetings and training drills.  As an active member, you also have the right to vote at meetings and hold offices within the organization once you have completed your probationary requirements.

• Support membership is available to applicants who are active members of other fire or rescue agencies.  As a support member, you are required to run 8 hours of duty per month and attend monthly meetings and training drills.  Support members are not able to vote during meetings.

• Non-EMS members do not have a duty time requirement.  As a non-EMS member, you can assist at fundraisers and serve on committees.  Non-EMS members are also expected to attend monthly business meetings.

6:00pm - 12:00am

12:00am - 6:00am

 

Saturday and Sunday

6:00am - 12:00pm

12:00pm - 6:00pm

6:00pm to 12:00am

12:00am - 6:00am

 

If you have not had any prior EMS experience that is not a problem.  The Grottoes Rescue Squad will pay your fees to attend classes such as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Emergency Vehicle Operator (EVOC), and CPR training.
